GRAHAM WATSON STANDS UP FOR INDEPENDENT GARAGES IN DORSET

10.44.55am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 21st May 2009

Liberal Democrat European Parliamentary elections candidate for the South West Graham Watson is fighting the corner of independent garage owners in Dorset over recent EU legislation.

The European Commission is carrying out a review of the Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Regulation (MVBER), which requires car manufacturers to make information and parts available to independent garages.

Mr. Watson will meet independent garage owners in Bridport to discuss the legislation tonight (20 May).

Commenting, Mr. Watson said:

"For independent garage owners across Dorset, acquiring the necessary parts and information to do their jobs is crucial. I've tabled a European Parliamentary question on this issue, and I hope to gain some reassurance for garage owners across the county that they can continue to offer a local and affordable service."
